Environmental noise impact assessment – why is this necessary?

An environmental noise impact assessment is usually required as part of the planning application for a new development or project.  It is important to assess the noise climate when considering a new building project for a number of reasons.  Most people immediately think of the impact that the new development may have on the existing environment.

However it also works the other way too, and it is important to ensure that activities or industries already located near to the new site will not impact on the success of the project.  For example, a proposed site for a school or residential estate adjoining a noisy industrial plant is likely to require specialist acoustic assessment and design. PDA Acoustic Consultants have many years experience and knowledge of environmental noise impact assessments, enabling them to not only assess the noise climate, but also make suggestions to help your development.
