Sound testing is the measurement of sound insulation between houses and/or flats and is a requirement of the building regulations. Sound Testing is a specialised skill carried out by qualified consultants using state of the art measuring equipment, which requires experience and knowledge of operation. The personnel carrying out sound testing for PDA are acoustic consultants and are all ANC (Association of Noise Consultants) registered. This means they can provide the appropriate tests to meet the approved standards to submit to the Building Control Body. To find out more about sound testing by ANC registered testers you can watch a short video on our sound testing page.
Since 2003 sound testing has become mandatory in all new attached homes. Building Regulations need to be met and evidence of achieving this must be submitted to the Building Control Body. In order to successfully certify that sound testing, and sound insulation is at the correct level.
Apart from the fact that all our acoustic consultants are ANC registered, they also hold a number of additional qualifications, from IOA Diplomas in Acoustics to Engineering and Science Degrees as well as Master’s Degrees and Doctorates. Our consultants are all members of the Institute of Acoustics. If we find that the sound insulation in your building does not meet the required standards, we can provide recommendations for remedial solutions.
Another reason for employing the services of PDA, is that at the same time as conducting sound testing PDA can also offer testing for air tightness. This means we can check the building conforms to Part L1 A & B of the Building Regulations.
You can meet our team to find out more about their passions and experience in the industry.
